Biratnagar is set to host a large-scale overnight game development competition aimed at teenagers, marking one of Nepal’s most ambitious youth-focused “game jam” initiatives. The event seeks to encourage students not only to consume technology but to create it.
Organized by Arniko HackClub, “Campfire Biratnagar” will take place from February 28 to March 1 at the Industry Organization Morang building in the capital of Koshi Province. The 24-hour hackathon-style event will require participants to design and build a playable video game from scratch within a single night.
According to organizers, the competition is open exclusively to secondary-level students aged 13 to 18. Prior experience in coding or game design is not mandatory. Event coordinator Arjan Chaudhary said dedicated workshops on basic programming and game design will be conducted during the program to support beginners.
Campfire Biratnagar is part of the global Hack Club movement, which is reportedly being held simultaneously in more than 200 cities worldwide. Co-coordinator Prayash Adhikari said the initiative aims to connect local youth with the international technology community and contribute to their career development.
The program is entirely free. Participants will be provided with workspace, meals, and snacks. Organizers will also distribute T-shirts, stickers, and a free .xyz domain to help students build their own portfolios. Winners will be announced during the event.
