A significant demonstration led by the Rastriya Ekta Dal took place at Maitighar Mandala today, highlighting growing public resentment toward recent government enforcement measures. Approximately 200 participants gathered to demand the immediate withdrawal of the mandatory 100-rupee border provision and a cessation of what they characterized as "dozer terror."
Under the leadership of Central Chairman Binay Yadav, the assembly criticized the state for maintaining double standards. Speakers, including Toyanath Dahal, Kalananda Mishra, and Pyari Tamang, argued that while high-value contraband often bypasses security at airports, local farmers are subjected to intense scrutiny and harassment at border crossings for bringing in basic necessities like rice.
The protest also addressed the human rights implications of property demolitions. Chairman Yadav asserted that destroying homes without prior legal notice constitutes a grave violation of civil liberties. The group called for an end to the displacement of the poor and urged the government to ensure the timely supply of fertilizers for border-region farmers.
Organizers declared the event a success but issued a stern warning to the administration. If the demands concerning border rights and the protection of private property are not addressed, the party intends to escalate their movement into a more rigorous phase of protest.
