Prime Minister Balendra Shah has formally addressed growing public anxiety regarding land management initiatives, asserting that the state has no intention of leaving its citizens without shelter. In a detailed statement, the Prime Minister emphasized that recent government actions are designed to resolve long-standing issues rather than initiate mass evictions.

Addressing the rising fear among those living in informal settlements along Kathmandu’s riverbanks and government properties, Shah noted that misinformation is being systematically spread to create panic. He urged the public to remain calm and disregard unverified reports suggesting imminent displacement.

To facilitate a permanent fix, the government has moved to repeal specific sections of the Land Act 2021 via an ordinance, viewing them as hurdles to modern solutions. This legislative shift has paved the way for a digital data collection process. Authorities are currently verifying the records of landless individuals to ensure the management process is both transparent and sustainable.

For residents currently living in high-risk or unsafe environments, the government has pledged a structured and secure relocation plan. The Prime Minister clarified that the ultimate goal is to validate the records of the landless and provide them with dignified living conditions based on official commission recommendations.

The administration maintains that these steps are being taken to guarantee the fundamental right to housing. Prime Minister Shah reiterated the government's commitment to ensuring that no individual is rendered homeless, promising that the transition toward permanent housing will be handled with accountability and respect for all citizens.
