In a major crackdown on the illegal pharmaceutical trade, the District Police Range Kathmandu intercepted a significant drug operation in the Nagarjun area. Acting on precise intelligence regarding narcotics trafficking, a specialized police unit conducted a targeted raid on Wednesday evening, April 1, 2026 (Chaitra 18, 2082).

The operation led to the apprehension of 24-year-old Sunil Gole, also known as Sunil Chimse. Originally from Kakani, Nuwakot, the suspect had been residing in a rented apartment near Sita Bal Bikas Secondary School in Nagarjun Municipality-3. During a thorough search of his quarters, officers discovered a massive stockpile of restricted medications.

The seized inventory included 4,680 capsules of Tramadol and 145 tablets of Nitrazepam. Additionally, police recovered 60 ampoules of Diazepam, along with 58 ampoules each of Phenergan and Nurphin. Authorities also confiscated three mobile phones and 17,300 Nepalese Rupees in cash from the site.

According to a press release issued by SP Pawan Kumar Bhattarai, the suspect was taken into custody at approximately 6:00 PM. The Swayambhu Police Circle has initiated a detailed investigation to uncover the broader network behind this distribution point.

As the legal proceedings continue, the recovery of such a high volume of controlled substances underscores the ongoing challenge of prescription drug abuse in the capital.
