In a decisive move to streamline party organization, Nepali Congress President Gagan Kumar Thapa has announced that any individual failing to update their active membership will cease to be a part of the political organization. This stern warning arrives amidst reports of internal resistance from the faction led by senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba.
The declaration was made on Tuesday at the party's Ward No. 30 office in Kathmandu, where Thapa formally submitted his own application for membership renewal. Addressing the media, he urged all party ranks to avoid creating unnecessary obstacles in a process he describes as strictly governed by the party's constitution.
Directing leaders and cadres across the nation to report to their respective ward offices, the President emphasized that the deadline for these updates is set for April 28 (Baisakh 15). He dismissed rumors of a "membership grab," asking members to refrain from spreading alarmist narratives or causing chaotic disruptions regarding the renewal drive.
For those residing abroad or facing unavoidable circumstances, the party has pledged to implement special arrangements. Thapa clarified that the General Secretaries are overseeing the process at the central office and are available to resolve any confusion. He maintained that adhering to these constitutional mandates is a fundamental obligation for every member dedicated to the continuity of the Nepali Congress.
