In a decisive move to strengthen the organizational structure of the Nepali Congress, Party President Gagan Kumar Thapa has nominated 19 influential figures to the Central Working Committee. Invoking Article 21, Sub-section 10 of the party’s constitution, Thapa selected the new members from among the pool of General Convention delegates to represent various geographical and political sectors of the country.

The list of appointees features a mix of seasoned veterans and prominent regional voices, including Mahendra Yadav from Dhanusha, Jeevan Pariyar from Kaski, and Sujata Koirala from Morang. The inclusion of leaders like Dr. Chandra Kant Bhandari (Gulmi), Ramesh Rijal (Parsa), and Dilendra Prasad Badu (Darchula) signals an effort to balance internal party dynamics while ensuring wide regional coverage. Notably, the appointments also include technical experts and academic figures such as Prof. Dr. Govind Raj Pokharel from Pyuthan.

This expansion is viewed as a vital step in preparing the party for upcoming political challenges and streamlining decision-making processes. By bringing in diverse leaders such as Angelu Sherpa (Solukhumbu), Lakshmi Pariyar (Udayapur), and Dinesh Kumar Yadav (Saptari), the leadership aims to revitalize the party's grassroots connection across the Terai, Hills, and Mountain regions.

The newly inducted members are expected to take their oaths of office shortly, marking a significant transition in the executive branch of Nepal's largest democratic party. With the inclusion of women leaders like Sushila Mishra Bhatta and Nagina Yadav, the committee moves toward a more inclusive executive framework ahead of the next national agenda.
