A significant drug seizure in Pokhara has led to the arrest of a young individual, highlighting ongoing concerns over illegal narcotics circulation in the region.
According to Nepal Police, 19-year-old Ayush Tamang of Pokhara Metropolitan City–29 was detained following a coordinated operation involving the District Police Office Kaski, Area Police Office Shishuwa, and the Narcotics Control Bureau in Pokhara.
The arrest took place on Wednesday evening around 5:30 pm, when authorities recovered a large quantity of injectable drugs from his possession. The seized items included 1,721 ampoules of Diazepam, 334 ampoules of Phenergan, and 377 ampoules of Buprenorphine, totaling 2,432 ampoules.
Police also confiscated two mobile phones and cash amounting to Rs 93,500. Officials stated that the suspect had allegedly been packaging the substances into sets and selling each set for Rs 2,000.
The suspect is currently under investigation after the Kaski District Court granted a five-day remand for further inquiry. Authorities indicate that the case will proceed under narcotics-related charges as part of ongoing enforcement efforts.
