A major cross-border smuggling attempt was foiled in Siraha district after security forces intercepted a commercial vehicle packed with contraband bound for India. The late-night operation led to the recovery of substantial merchandise and the immediate detention of two individuals at the scene.

Acting on precise intelligence, a patrol unit from the Armed Police Force No. 7 Battalion conducted the raid in the border zone of Devanagar, located within Navarajpur Rural Municipality-5. The law enforcement team successfully halted the vehicle before it could cross the international boundary line.

Security personnel discovered a diverse haul of unauthorized cargo hidden inside the truck, bearing registration number Sa 1 Kha 535. The confiscated items included bulk quantities of cosmetic products, toothpaste, and 260 kilograms of walnuts, all being transported out of Nepal without legal documentation.

Authorities have calculated the financial impact of the bust, estimating the illicit goods to be worth approximately 1,947,300 rupees. Furthermore, the commercial vehicle utilized in the smuggling attempt holds an additional estimated valuation of 2,100,000 rupees.

The two men apprehended during the operation have been identified as 50-year-old Rajesh Yadav and 39-year-old Anand Yadav, both residents of the local area. Officials confirmed that the detained individuals were operating the vehicle as the driver and co-driver.

Following the seizure, the Armed Police Force initiated standard legal handovers to ensure proper prosecution and asset management. The driver and helper were transferred into the custody of the Nepal Police, while the vehicle and its intercepted cargo are currently undergoing official processing for delivery to the customs office.
