Activist Aids Mother Who Gave Birth Outside Rajbiraj Hospital

A poignant incident highlighting financial vulnerability and community support unfolded in Rajbiraj, Nepal, after a mother in labor was forced onto the pavement due to lack of funds, subsequently receiving immediate aid from a local political figure.

Babita Paswan, a resident of Rajbiraj Municipality-14, had arrived at Gajendra Narayan Singh Hospital seeking safe delivery services. Unable to afford care, she stepped outside to gather money when labor pains intensified, leading to an emergency delivery on the street sidewalk.

Following the crisis, Paswan was admitted to the hospital for post-natal treatment. Hearing of her plight, Sunita Sah (Kranti), central vice-chairperson of the Rastriya Samata Party Nepal and resident of Rajbiraj-7, personally visited the facility on Friday to deliver humanitarian support.

Sah provided crucial items for both mother and child, including clothes, a mosquito net, sanitary pads, soap powder, nutritious food, and a month's supply of food grains to ease their immediate hardships.

This intervention underscores the persistent challenge of healthcare accessibility for impoverished families while highlighting how grassroots solidarity remains a vital safety net during medical emergencies.
