Expressing grief over lost lives and condemning government inaction, the Rastriya Ekta Dal has called on the state to institutionalize annual remembrance and comprehensive relief for victims of the devastating Bhote Koshi floods.
During a sacred ritual held on the occasion of Aausi at Bagmati Ghat near Pashupatinath Temple, party leaders and activists gathered at 4:00 PM to perform jal tarpan (water offerings). The solemn ceremony aimed to honor the memory and pray for the eternal peace of those who perished in the disaster.

Led by party Chairman Vinay Yadav, alongside central leaders Toyanath Dahal, Binod Singh, and Pusta Lama (Pathibhara Mata), participants offered water from traditional brass pots directly into the river, paying their final respects to the deceased citizens.
Addressing the gathering, Chairman Yadav criticized the government's superficial response, noting that while an official day of mourning was declared on Bhadra 22, the state failed to grant a public holiday. He emphasized that genuine empathy requires formal state recognition and lasting institutional respect rather than mere symbolic declarations.
The party formally urged authorities to provide immediate and adequate compensation, relief, and permanent rehabilitation for displacement-affected families. They also reiterated their push to establish Bhadra 22 as a permanent annual remembrance day accompanied by a national holiday, ensuring future disaster responses prioritize citizen welfare and long-term recovery.
