The promotional campaign for the highly anticipated Nepali feature film ‘Pahad’ gained significant momentum on Monday following the official premiere of its first musical track in Kathmandu. Titled ‘Mohani Lagaune,’ the song serves as a creative bridge between generations, featuring the vocal contributions of Asmita Adhikari alongside industry stalwarts Bharti Ghimire, Sakar Apte, Madan Krishna Shrestha, and Bipin Karki. This musical introduction offers a glimpse into a project that aims to capture the deep-seated emotional connection Nepalis maintain with their highland roots.

Directed and written by the legendary Tulshee Ghimire, the film boasts an expansive cast that reads like a who’s who of Nepali cinema. Veterans such as Sunil Thapa, Shiva Shrestha, and Madan Krishna Shrestha share the screen with modern icons Bipin Karki, Priyanka Karki, and Rabindra Singh Baniya. The project also marks the professional debut of actress Panchami Ghimire, who noted during the launch event that the film is a sincere attempt to portray the authentic lived experiences of the hills.

Reflecting on the film’s core philosophy, director Ghimire emphasized the inevitable intersection of traditional wisdom and youthful energy. He observed that even those who migrate abroad often find themselves longing for the hills, a sentiment that forms the narrative backbone of ‘Pahad.’ Ghimire further asserted that the responsibility of nation-building rests squarely with the younger generation, though their success depends on learning from the foundations laid by their predecessors.

Scheduled for a nationwide theatrical release on the first day of the Nepali New Year, ‘Pahad’ is positioned as a cinematic exploration of heritage and migration. As the industry looks toward the holiday window, this film seeks to resonate with audiences through its themes of cultural identity and the enduring pull of the homeland.
