In a significant crackdown on cross-border drug trafficking, the District Police Office, Parsa, has apprehended eight individuals from the Shankaracharya Gate area in Birgunj. The arrests were made during a specialized campaign titled "Drug User Search and Reform Grand Mission."

According to the official press release from the Ministry of Home Affairs, the suspects were caught while entering Nepal from India. Security personnel discovered various narcotics, including brown heroin, white heroin, and prohibited tablets, concealed on the individuals and within a motorcycle.

The seized substances included approximately 13 grams of brown and white heroin and 106 pieces of restricted tablets. Law enforcement also impounded a motorcycle (Madhesh Province 03-028 Pa 7656) used by two of the suspects during the smuggling attempt.

The arrested individuals, ranging in age from 19 to 52, include Bikash Kumar Sah, Kabin Parajuli, Sagar Ghimire, Puja Jimba, Anjan Thapa, Ramesh Bamjan, Raju Baniya, and Alihadan Miya.

Following the arrests, the Parsa District Court has granted a five-day remand to allow for further investigation. The authorities are currently probing the source and intended distribution network of the recovered contraband.
