India Hands Over Second Batch of Election Vehicles to Nepal
More than 250 vehicles were delivered in Kathmandu as part of India’s ongoing election assistance ahead of Nepal’s upcoming polls.
India has transferred the second tranche of election-related assistance to Nepal, reinforcing bilateral cooperation ahead of the country’s forthcoming polls. The latest support package includes more than 250 vehicles, formally handed over at a ceremony held at Nepal’s Ministry of Finance in Kathmandu on January 29.

According to the official press release issued by the Embassy of India in Kathmandu, the vehicles were ceremonially handed to the Government of Nepal by India’s Charge d’Affaires a.i., Dr. Rakesh Pandey, in the presence of Nepal’s Minister for Finance, Rameshore Prasad Khanal. The assistance was provided in response to a request from the Nepali government to support logistical preparations for the elections.

Addressing the event, Finance Minister Khanal highlighted the long-standing relationship between Nepal and India, describing the support as a meaningful contribution to the country’s election preparedness. He expressed gratitude to the Government and people of India, noting that such assistance would play a practical role in ensuring smoother electoral operations.

This delivery follows the first tranche of election-related assistance, which was handed over on January 20. Indian officials indicated that additional consignments are scheduled to arrive in the coming weeks, with the support being delivered in multiple phases.

The Embassy of India stated that the ongoing assistance reflects the depth of India–Nepal cooperation across sectors and underscores the mutual trust that defines relations between the two countries. The support, it added, is part of a broader development partnership that extends beyond elections and into long-term institutional cooperation.
As Nepal moves closer to its elections, officials on both sides have emphasized continued coordination to ensure that logistical and administrative requirements are met efficiently.
