Australian Ambassador on Controversial Visit with Manisha Koirala and Other Celebrities
Kathmandu, Nepal: The Bodhisattvas In Action (BIA) Foundation, which has recently come under scrutiny for its questionable practices, hosted its anniversary celebration attended by Australian Ambassador Felicity Volk and renowned actor Manisha Koirala, among other notable guests.
While the event featured musical performances and the awarding of "Employee of the Year 2024" to Tsering Dolkar Lama, critics allege that BIA's focus on such high-profile gatherings distracts from its purported mission to support differently-abled individuals.
BIA, founded by Chogyal Rinpoche in 2015, was meant to empower the disabled through business ventures and skill training. However, accusations suggest the foundation operates more as a fundraising machine than a genuine support system. Management inefficiencies, lack of product marketing, and discrepancies in wage distribution have been highlighted as major issues.
The foundation's recent celebration, documented in a Facebook post, appears to be another in a series of events aimed at securing donations rather than delivering on its promises. BIA's significant financial inflows from domestic and international donors remain a point of contention, with critics questioning the transparency and efficacy of its operations.
With prominent figures attending such events, the call for a thorough investigation into BIA's practices grows louder, seeking accountability and a renewed focus on truly aiding the differently-abled community in Nepal.
