The Nepali film journalism community has been left in shock following the untimely death of veteran journalist Dinesh Sitoula in Kathmandu.
Sitoula, 43, was undergoing treatment at Grande International Hospital after collapsing during a work-related visit to Achham. Medical officials confirmed that he suffered from an aneurysm rupture, a severe form of brain hemorrhage.
Despite intensive care support and ventilation, doctors declared him dead at 12:45 pm on Sunday. Hospital sources said there was no neurological recovery during treatment.
His final rites are scheduled to be performed later today at Pashupati Aryaghat.
Unmarried, Sitoula is survived by his father, one sister, and two brothers. A former president of the Film Journalists Association Nepal, he played a significant role in promoting hundreds of Nepali films over his career.
At the time of the incident, Sitoula was accompanying the election campaign team of Balendra Shah, a senior leader of the Rastriya Swatantra Party, in Achham.
His death marks a profound loss to cultural journalism, raising renewed attention on the pressures faced by journalists working in demanding field conditions.
