Serious questions are being raised in social media and political circles regarding the lifestyle and rapid financial growth of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Member of Parliament Purushottam Yadav. After a Facebook user under the name 'Silence Breaker' posted a detailed status linking Yadav to candidate ticket distribution for the upcoming elections, various allegations against him have become a hot topic of discussion from local tea shops to public squares.

Modest Family Background and MP Salary

MP Purushottam Yadav’s family background is said to have been financially weak in the past. His father reportedly managed the family's livelihood by running a small grocery shop. However, the luxurious transformation in Yadav’s lifestyle within a short period after becoming an MP has astonished the general public. It is considered nearly impossible to accumulate tens of millions of rupees in assets within such a brief timeframe solely on the limited salary and facilities provided to a lawmaker in Nepal. Consequently, the public has begun raising questions and speculating about his unusual financial advancement.

Closeness with Rabi Lamichhane and Ticket Selling Rumors

MP Yadav is considered extremely close to and a confidant of party chairman Rabi Lamichhane. Chairman Lamichhane dispatched his MPs with inter-district responsibilities to study candidate selection for the upcoming local and provincial elections. Yadav, who holds significant influence in Madhesh, is accused of exploiting this responsibility to sell election tickets. As claimed on social media, rumors are circulating that he received Rs 8 million from a Rajasthani-Nepali businessman through a middleman with a promise to secure a ticket.

House, Flat, and Multi-Million Vehicles in Kathmandu

According to public chatter and market rumors, Yadav is accused of running an extortion ring following the formation of Sushila Karki’s government. It is rumored that he purchased a two-and-a-half-story house in Aloknagar, Naya Baneshwor, and an apartment in Sinamangal, Kathmandu, using those funds.

Furthermore, the multi-million rupee vehicles he purchased have further heated up the political arena. He is accused of purchasing vehicles under different individuals' names to conceal the source of funds. As reported, he purchased an 'MG' car under his mother Asha Devi's name, an 'Isuzu D-Max' under Nabil Karak's name (allegedly bought from Kedarnath Sharma's brother-in-law), a 'Ridara Pickup Electric' under his friend Ankit Yadav's name, and a 'BYD' vehicle under another individual's name. It is suspected that he has hidden substantial wealth elsewhere in undisclosed ways beyond his own and his family's names.

Economic Inequality Among Gen-Z Leaders and Public Discontent

The public had high expectations from the Gen-Z generation that recently emerged in Nepali politics. However, the extreme economic inequality seen among leaders of this generation has left many in an ironic state. On one hand, some honest young leaders in politics lack even basic fares to travel using ride-sharing apps like Pathao, InDrive, and Yango, while on the other hand, leaders like Yadav are criticized for climbing into the multi-millionaire category in a short time. Although MP Yadav has not been proven guilty by law and these matters remain market rumors and public speculation, this luxurious lifestyle displayed in a short span has raised serious questions about the new generation's politics and intentions.
