The Nepali Congress has formally reprimanded senior leader Purna Bahadur Khadka for issuing unauthorized public statements using forged party credentials. This decision was reached during a Central Discipline Committee meeting held on Wednesday at the party’s central office in Sanepa.
The committee investigated a statement released by Khadka on March 28, where he reportedly posed as the Acting President. According to committee coordinator Taraman Gurung, Khadka utilized a fraudulent letterhead to condemn the arrests of CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli and Congress leader Ramesh Lekhak. The party has labeled this act as a breach of internal protocol and has warned the leader against repeating such conduct.
Beyond the specific warning to Khadka, the committee issued a broader directive concerning party integrity. Officials stated that any member found engaging in similar unauthorized activities would face strict penalties under the party’s constitution and existing national laws. The leadership emphasized that the misuse of titles and official stationary is a serious violation of organizational discipline.
In a move to address broader internal issues, the discipline committee has also launched an inquiry into the 2026 House of Representatives elections. Members who allegedly supported rival candidates, remained silent during campaigning, or acted as proposers for independent rivals have been given seven days to provide a written explanation.
The party has requested all units to submit any complaints regarding election-related disciplinary violations by mid-April 2026. This cleanup drive indicates a heightened focus on internal stability as the party looks toward its future political strategy.
