The Federal Parliament Secretariat has officially initiated the collection of biometric data and formal photographs from lawmakers to implement a more robust electronic attendance system. This move aims to streamline the tracking of parliamentary participation through advanced digital integration.
According to a notice issued by the Secretariat on Wednesday, the data collection process is designed to enhance the efficiency of current attendance protocols. Members of various parliamentary committees have been assigned specific schedules and locations to provide their biometric information.
The registration window is set for May 6, May 7, and May 10 (24, 25, and 28 Baisakh). Lawmakers are required to follow the designated timetable specific to their respective committees to ensure an organized transition to the new system.
As part of the formal procedure, representatives must wear their official Federal Parliament badges during the photography and enrollment sessions. This standardization ensures that all legislative records remain professional and verified.
This transition marks a significant shift toward digital accountability within Nepal's top legislative body. The implementation of biometric verification is expected to bring greater transparency to the daily operations of the Federal Parliament in the coming sessions.
