The upcoming Nepali feature film Gauthali is officially scheduled to hit theaters nationwide on July 1. To mark the announcement, the production team launched two promotional posters on Friday, offering audiences an initial glimpse into the narrative and thematic core of the movie.
Set against the backdrop of a rustic, hilly society, the film appears to focus on the struggles and resilience of an economically disadvantaged family. The newly released visuals hint at a poignant story centered around social expectations and personal ambition.

The first poster introduces the lead actors, Arun Chhetri and Simran Khadka, adorned in traditional wedding attire as a bride and groom. This imagery establishes the central relationship around which the plot revolves.
In contrast, the second poster solitary features Khadka, depicting her carrying a basket of firewood while simultaneously focused on her studies. The visual strongly implies that the narrative explores the journey of a young woman navigating marriage and household chores without abandoning her academic goals.
The project boasts a prominent ensemble cast, including veteran actor Madan Krishna Shrestha alongside Prakash Ghimire, Luniba Tuladhar, Rabindra Jha, and Ishwori Baral. Additional roles are played by Sanyog Rasaili, Sitadevi Timilsina, Lakshminath Timilsina, and Rajendra Nepali, with youth performances from child actors Anshu Oli and Prince Nepali.
The creative team behind the project features a collaborative scriptwriting effort. Based on an original story by Dr. Bhola Rizal, the screenplay and dialogue were developed by director Dr. Kapil Rizal in partnership with Nishchal Kunwar, Niraj Nepal, and Giriraj Ghimire.
Jointly produced under the banners of Bhola Rizal Production and Suman Giri Production, the venture features Sarala Rizal as the executive producer. Suman Giri and Dr. Kapil Rizal serve as producers, supported by co-producers Indu Giri, Manish Rizal, Pralay Rizal, and Jiwan Oli.
The film's auditory elements are shaped by composers Shambhujeet Baskota, Thaneswar Gautam, and Prashant Sikakoti, with Alice Karki managing the background score. Behind the camera, Hari Humagai handled the cinematography, while Milan Shrestha oversaw the editing process.
Theatrical distribution across the country will be managed by Rich Entertainment, Apple Entertainment, and F.D. Company. Meanwhile, OSR Digital has been locked in as the official digital partner for the project.
Interestingly, this venture carries a historic legacy. Two decades ago, Dr. Bhola Rizal produced a highly successful musical film under the exact same title, which achieved a landmark 51-day run in theaters. This new iteration is helmed by his son, Dr. Kapil Rizal, bridging two generations of filmmaking.
