The question of leadership continuity in Nepali Congress has moved to the partyтАЩs central decision-making body, with leaders indicating that the Central Working Committee will determine the fate of President Gagan Kumar ThapaтАЩs resignation.
Speaking at the party headquarters in Sanepa before the meeting, Joint General Secretary Uday Shamsher Rana said the issue would be formally discussed as part of the agenda alongside a review of recent parliamentary election outcomes.
Rana noted that most party leaders and cadres have expressed the view that ThapaтАЩs leadership remains necessary in the current political context. He emphasized that any decision on resignation must follow the partyтАЩs statute, requiring deliberation within the central committee rather than unilateral conclusions.
He added that an initial assessment of election results is underway, with candidates from various constituencies instructed to submit reports. A comprehensive evaluation will follow once all reports are collected.
Thapa had submitted his resignation through Vice President Bishwo Prakash Sharma, making the upcoming meeting a key forum for determining both leadership direction and electoral strategy within the party.
