A political discussion program held in Birgunj has renewed debate over constitutional reform and the proposal of reinstating Nepal as a Hindu state, drawing participation from party leaders and local stakeholders.

The event, titled “Hindu State and Constitution Amendment Debate,” was organized by Rastriya Ekta Dal and chaired by Parsa district president Bikau Bhandaari Tharu. Party central president Binay Yadav attended as the chief guest.

Speakers at the forum argued that the current constitution does not adequately reflect national identity or the sentiments of a majority of citizens, calling for an immediate constitutional amendment to restore Nepal’s Hindu state status.

Leaders including Aklesh Kushwaha, Ramnath Yadav, Awadhesh Sah, Manoj Singh, Dev Babu Prasad Kurmi, Krishna Mohan Sahni, and Ravindra Yadav emphasized that a Hindu state is essential for preserving cultural identity and ensuring long-term peace.

The program, conducted by youth leader Vivek Kushwaha, saw participation from intellectuals, civil society representatives, and political activists from across the district.

The discussion concluded with continued emphasis on constitutional debate as part of broader political and ideological discourse in the region.
