India's Financial Aid Revolutionizes Dhulikhel Hospital: New Ward Building Inaugurated!

Kathmandu – The newly constructed ward building of Dhulikhel Hospital, located in Dhulikhel Municipality, Kavrepalanchowk, was inaugurated today. Built with the financial assistance of the Government of India at a total project cost of NPR 42.60 million under the 'Nepal-India Development Cooperation' initiative, the building was officially opened by Shri Avinash Kumar Singh, First Secretary, Embassy of India, Kathmandu. The event saw the presence of the Mayor of Dhulikhel Municipality, political representatives, government officials, hospital management representatives, and social workers.

The grant from the Government of India, provided under the 'Nepal-India Development Cooperation,' facilitated the construction of the ward building and other essential facilities for the hospital. This project, classified as a High Impact Community Development Project (HICDP), was carried out under an agreement between the Governments of India and Nepal, with implementation through Dhulikhel Municipality. The project stands as a significant example of the strong development partnership between India and Nepal.

In their remarks, the Mayor of Dhulikhel Municipality, political representatives, and the Executive and Administrative Directors of Dhulikhel Hospital expressed their gratitude for the ongoing developmental support from the Government of India. They acknowledged the critical role such support plays in uplifting the people of Nepal, particularly in priority sectors.

The establishment of the new ward building will significantly enhance the quality of infrastructure and improve the environment for healthcare services provided to the people of Nepal.

Since 2003, the Government of India has undertaken over 551 HICDPs across various sectors in Nepal, successfully completing 490 of these projects. Among these, 106 projects are located in Bagmati Province, including seven in Kavrepalanchowk. Furthermore, the Government of India has gifted 1,009 ambulances and 300 school buses to various hospitals, health posts, and educational institutions in Nepal. Bagmati Province has received 236 ambulances and 98 school buses, with Kavrepalanchowk District benefitting from eight school buses and 16 ambulances. Notably, an Advanced Life Support ambulance was gifted to Dhulikhel Hospital in January 2021, which continues to play a vital role in emergency healthcare services.

As close neighbors, India and Nepal share extensive and multi-sectoral cooperation. The implementation of HICDPs exemplifies the Government of India's continued commitment to supporting the Government of Nepal in its efforts to uplift its people and enhance infrastructure in key priority sectors.
