RSP Shifts Protest from Pokhara to Kathmandu, Unusual Scenes Observed in Pokhara
The Rastriya Swotantra Party (RSP) has decided to shift its protest from Pokhara to Kathmandu due to a lack of public support in Pokhara. The insensitivity displayed by party cadres during the protest failed to attract the expected backing.
During the protest in Pokhara, the cadres seemed not to take the movement seriously. Some were seen laughing, others walking hand-in-hand, and even engaging in public displays of affection. The lack of discipline among some participants caused the protest to miss its intended objective, as indicated by the poor turnout.
According to an online report by Jana Aastha, there were reports of unusual activities during the protest. It mentioned a significant increase in the sale of condoms during the protest in Pokhara, suggesting that participants were more involved in leisure than political activism.
Following this, RSP decided to move its protest to Kathmandu. Party leadership has described the Pokhara protest as a "failure" and is now focusing on garnering more public support in the capital. The party has scheduled a demonstration at Maitighar Mandala on Friday, Kartik 9 (October 25), at 1 PM, where they aim to show "solidarity against political retaliation."
As party president Rabi Lamichhane remains in custody, other senior leaders will lead the protest. The Kaski District Court has granted permission to keep Lamichhane in custody for further investigation until Kartik 14 (October 30).
