The prolonged healthcare crisis for thousands of citizens reliant on subsidized medical care is drawing to a close as Maharajgunj-based Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH) announced the revival of its suspended insurance desk. Outpatient department (OPD) facilities under the government's universal health insurance layout are slated to fully resume operations on Asar 15.

This crucial development arrives as a massive relief for common citizens after a five-and-a-half-month service blackout. The major medical hub had previously locked down its state insurance gateway on Magh 1, 2083, citing an unmanageable financial crunch brought on by the Health Insurance Board's long-standing failure to disburse millions in outstanding medical claims.

Hospital officials had previously raised alarms regarding their crumbling economic stability, stating that the prolonged non-payment of dues by the state machinery had completely derailed daily operations. The breakthrough came recently after the regulatory Insurance Board finally cleared the backlog of pending payments, paving the way for the institution to lift its suspension.

To ensure structured patient management, the hospital's insurance branch has established dedicated operational hours for the incoming rush. Moving forward, eligible beneficiaries can secure their OPD insurance tickets during two designated daily slots: from 7:00 AM to 11:00 AM in the morning, and a afternoon window between 1:00 PM and 2:30 PM.

With financial channels temporarily restored, this resumption marks a significant return to institutional normalcy, though it highlights the delicate structural dependency between public healthcare behemoths and government financing frameworks. The subsequent months will test whether the state's payment mechanism remains consistent enough to prevent future disruptions for low-income patients.
