A major anti-narcotics operation on the Saptakoshi River led to the recovery of approximately 475 kilograms of illegal marijuana. The contraband was discovered hidden on an isolated island situated within the riverbed.
The successful raid occurred at a location bordering Barahachhetra Municipality-6 in Sunari district and Belka Municipality-8 in Udaipur district. Security personnel found the illicit substances carefully concealed inside 16 separate sacks.
Acting on precise intelligence, a joint security team initiated the operation. The mission was led by Armed Police Inspector Meghraj Raut from the Disaster Management Base in Chatara, alongside Armed Police Inspector Raj Bikram Khadka from the Rampur Security Base.
Due to the challenging geography of the island location, the Armed Police Force utilized specialized raft boats. This allowed the officers to safely transport the massive haul of contraband across the river to the bank.
According to Armed Police Deputy Inspector General and Spokesperson Bishnu Prasad Bhatta, the confiscated narcotics have been officially handed over to the relevant legal authorities for further investigation and judicial proceedings.
