Arjun Narsingh KC, the senior-most member of the House of Representatives, has described the parliament as a vital mirror reflecting Nepal's national politics and cultural identity. Speaking to News Agency Nepal, KC emphasized that both the parliament and the Speaker hold the critical responsibility of safeguarding democracy and national sovereignty.

While acknowledging that the parliament serves as a junction for diverse ideologies where disagreements and friction are inevitable, KC argued that reaching conclusions through such rigorous debate is the true essence of democracy. He categorized the legislative body as a forum for thesis, antithesis, and dialogue.

Ahead of the official election of a new Speaker, KC committed to maintaining a neutral, effective, and unhindered role in presiding over House sessions. Following a recent all-party meeting, he expressed confidence that all political factions are dedicated to ensuring that parliamentary proceedings remain free from unnecessary disputes.

The senior member further stressed that the government must prioritize the supremacy of the constitution and the prosperity of the people over mere numerical strength. He highlighted that supporting good governance while offering constructive criticism of policy failures is the core mandate of a functioning democracy.

Addressing the public’s rising expectations, KC identified the eradication of corruption—specifically policy-level corruption—as a primary necessity. However, he cautioned that anti-corruption measures must follow due legal process rather than being driven by prejudice, warning that bypassing procedures could lead to a state of lawlessness.

As the acting chair, KC will lead today's session of the House of Representatives, maintaining his pledge to facilitate a stable and disciplined legislative environment until a permanent Speaker is elected.
