Kathmandu, Asar 17. A Pakistani court has sentenced the prominent Baloch activist Mahrang Baloch to life imprisonment. Following the court's decision, a new debate regarding the state of human rights has commenced both within the country and at the international level.

Mahrang Baloch is an activist who has long been raising her voice in favor of forcibly disappeared persons, human rights violations, and civil liberties in the Balochistan region. She was accused of inciting violence against the state and being involved in terrorism-related activities. The court sentenced her to life imprisonment based on those allegations.

However, her legal representatives and supporters have claimed that the trial was not conducted fairly and stated that they will appeal to the high court. Various international human rights organizations have also expressed serious concern over the decision, questioning the closed-door hearing and the judicial process.

According to analysts, this verdict is likely to further intensify the prevailing security situation, political discontent, and human rights-related debates in Balochistan. This incident has refocused the international community's attention on Pakistan's human rights record and legal transparency.

Meanwhile, the Government of Pakistan has stated on this matter that the court's decision was made in accordance with an independent judicial process.
