The Government of Nepal has officially released a draft of the "National Commitment," an 18-point strategic roadmap designed to fundamentally reform state governance. This initiative follows the government's earlier 100-point action plan, which pledged to consolidate the promises made by various political parties into a unified national agenda for shared ownership.

Spearheaded by the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, the document seeks to integrate the manifestos and commitments of the six major political parties that gained national recognition in the 2082 elections. The government, led by Balendra Shah of the Rastriya Swatantra Party, aims to align this commitment with the upcoming annual policies, programs, and budgets for the fiscal year 2083/84 and beyond.

The draft covers 18 critical sectors, ranging from economic stability and agricultural self-reliance to infrastructure development and anti-corruption measures. Key areas of focus include energy development, tourism, and the utilization of the Nepali diaspora's skills and capital, alongside reforms in social justice and international diplomacy.

In a move towards transparency and inclusive policymaking, the Prime Minister's Office has called upon political parties and relevant stakeholders to provide their suggestions and feedback on the draft. This collaborative approach is intended to ensure that the final document reflects a broad national consensus and serves as a sustainable blueprint for the country's prosperity.

The finalized commitment is expected to be implemented through various ministries and departments, with the Secretary of the Development Management Division at the Prime Minister's Office overseeing inter-agency coordination and monitoring.
