Nepal’s preparations for its upcoming elections received another logistical boost on Wednesday as India handed over the third tranche of election-related assistance in Kathmandu.

The ceremonial transfer took place at Nepal’s Ministry of Home Affairs on 12 February 2026, where India’s Ambassador to Nepal, H.E. Naveen Srivastava, presented the assistance to Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal. The support package includes more than 270 vehicles and related supplies requested by Nepal to facilitate election arrangements across the country.

Among the vehicles are 50 trucks designated for the Nepali Army. These were formally received by Chief of Army Staff General Ashok Raj Sigdel from Ambassador Srivastava during the same event, underscoring the role of security institutions in managing election logistics.

Speaking at the ceremony, Home Minister Aryal expressed gratitude for what he described as timely and significant assistance. He also acknowledged the broader cooperation between Nepal and India, referring to the partnership as one grounded in mutual trust, friendship, and shared democratic values.
This latest consignment follows two earlier tranches of election-related support delivered on 20 January and 29 January 2026, which together included more than 310 vehicles and additional materials. According to officials, further deliveries are expected in phases in the coming days.
Indian officials described the assistance as part of a wider, multi-sectoral development partnership between the two countries. As Nepal moves closer to its electoral schedule, the continuing support highlights the institutional collaboration shaping bilateral ties.
The remaining consignments, once delivered, are expected to complete the current round of election-focused logistical cooperation between the two governments.
