Nepal’s Home Minister Sudan Gurung has warned that strict legal action will be taken against officials and employees within the Ministry of Home Affairs and its subordinate agencies who leak confidential state information to unauthorized entities.

The Home Minister stated that he has been closely monitoring an ongoing trend where personnel in responsible positions forget their official duty and disclose sensitive intelligence to unauthorized individuals or organizations.

Highlighting the critical nature of official secrecy, Minister Gurung emphasized that state intelligence is not private property but a public duty. He noted that holding an official position provides access to information but does not grant the right to misuse it, adding that even minor clues or intelligence are crucial in preventing crime, aiding investigations, and uncovering truth in serious incidents.
