Breaking News: Indian Embassy in Iran to Evacuate Nepali and Sri Lankan Citizens

Kathmandu – In a significant relief for Nepali citizens stranded in conflict-affected areas of Iran, the Indian Embassy in Tehran has announced that its evacuation mission will also include Nepali and Sri Lankan nationals. This crucial step comes after a formal and official request from the Government of Nepal to the Government of India, alongside a similar request from Sri Lanka.

The announcement was made public by Sidhant Sibal, Assistant Editor (Foreign Affairs) at WION News, through his social media post. Sibal wrote, “On request of the Governments of Nepal and Sri Lanka, the Indian Embassy’s evacuation efforts in Iran will also cover Citizens of Nepal and Sri Lanka.”

This decision has sparked hope among Nepalis who have been seeking a safe exit from the ongoing crisis in Iran. In recent days, many Nepali citizens in Iran have been looking for opportunities to return home due to escalating conflict, uncertainty, and security concerns. The Indian government’s support, initiated following Nepal’s official appeal, has been widely welcomed by the Nepali community and families with loved ones in Iran.

With the Government of Nepal now actively engaging in the process and the Indian Embassy responding promptly, this collaborative diplomatic effort has provided a much-needed sense of reassurance and safety for Nepalis caught in the unrest.
