India's NRs. 474 Million Grant to Nepal: 12 Major Projects in Health, Education, Agriculture, and Water Supply!

Kathmandu: In a major step towards advancing Nepal’s education, health, agriculture, drinking water, and cultural sectors, the Government of India has extended a grant of NRs. 474 million for 12 High Impact Community Development Projects (HICDPs). The Indian Embassy in Kathmandu, along with Nepal’s Ministry of Federal Affairs and local authorities, signed the Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) today to officially begin these initiatives.

What are these 12 Projects?
Spread across various districts, these projects include the construction of school buildings in Okhaldhunga, Saptari, Morang, and Bhojpur, the establishment of a water supply project in Solukhumbu, and an operation theatre for Rapti Eye Hospital in Dang, among others. The projects aim to uplift local communities by providing better educational, health, water, and agricultural facilities.

Impact on Local Communities
These initiatives will provide access to much-needed services in education, healthcare, agriculture, and water supply. The projects, once completed, are expected to significantly improve the quality of life for the people in the targeted districts.

India’s Commitment to Nepal’s Development
Since 2003, India has completed over 490 High Impact Development Projects in Nepal, and the latest 12 projects are part of the 563 total projects initiated across various sectors like education, healthcare, road infrastructure, and electrification.

Strengthening Bilateral Cooperation
As close neighbors, India and Nepal continue to strengthen their partnership through multi-sectoral cooperation. These projects further affirm India’s commitment to supporting Nepal’s development by enhancing critical infrastructure in key sectors.
