Kathmandu — The Government of Nepal has removed Dan Bahadur Karki from the post of Inspector General of Police (IGP) and appointed Additional Inspector General (AIG) Manoj KC as the new police chief.

The decision was taken during a Cabinet meeting held today. Government spokesperson and Minister for Education and Sports Sasmit Pokharel informed that Karki, who was relieved of his duties as police chief, has been appointed as the Security Advisor to the Prime Minister.

Karki had assumed charge as police chief on Kartik 27. He had reportedly been facing allegations of irregularities regarding the procurement of temporary police uniforms during the election held on Falgun 21, 2082.

Both Karki and the newly appointed IGP Manoj KC belong to the same batch.
