Former Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has appealed to party cadres to completely boycott the election process scheduled for Ashoj 3 by supporters of a special general convention. Stating that he no longer holds any ambition for political posts, Deuba emphasized his commitment to preventing a split within the party.
In an appeal issued on Tuesday, Deuba declared the proposed special convention illegal and urged party members to focus their efforts on preparing for the regular 15th general convention scheduled for Mangsir 21, 22, and 23. He maintained that as the president elected by the 14th general convention, his sole statutory duty is to conduct the 15th convention and facilitate a legal transfer of leadership.
Addressing internal factional disputes, Deuba dismissed claims of popularity made by the faction led by Gagan Thapa, arguing that the House of Representatives election results had already refuted such assertions. He stated that failing to learn lessons from electoral outcomes reflects an intention to weaken the party rather than build it.

Deuba further argued that advancing the election schedule is legally and politically improper, as the validity of the special general convention remains under consideration before a full bench of the Supreme Court, which has already granted permission for review.
Highlighting the historical accomplishments of political parties over the past 35 years in infrastructure, education, and health, Deuba cautioned against planned attacks on parties that disregard historical progress. The appeal underscores the deep organizational and legal divisions shaping the future course of Nepal's party structure.
