Nepali singer Sujan Chapagain has issued an official statement addressing the ongoing controversy surrounding the alleged leak of his private messages on various social media platforms. The incident gained widespread attention after screenshots and videos of the so-called secret chats were made public on platforms including TikTok, Instagram, and Reddit. Currently in Australia for a musical tour with his band, Sujan Chapagain and The Infinite, the artist expressed deep concern and sadness over the developments.
In a clarification posted on his official Facebook page, Chapagain acknowledged that he had exchanged messages with close friends and individuals with whom he shared intimate relationships in the past. He offered a heartfelt apology from the bottom of his heart for the distressing situation that has arisen from these exchanges. However, the singer maintained that he remains completely unaware of the full extent and authenticity of all the materials currently circulating on social media.
Providing context to the situation, Chapagain stated that it was impossible for him to handle his social media accounts entirely by himself. He revealed that various social media managers had managed his profiles across different time periods, leading to his preliminary assumption that the accounts might have been misused during those intervals. Additionally, the artist noted that he has been informed about multiple fake accounts operating actively under his name.
Regarding future actions, the singer announced that an investigation into these unethical and irresponsible acts has already been initiated. He committed to pursuing formal legal remedies immediately upon his return to Nepal after concluding his musical tour in Australia. He also promised his audience, family, relatives, and friends that he would engage in serious self-reflection, work to strengthen his digital literacy, and strive to retain the trust placed in him.
