Tourist safety and rapid response capabilities across Nepal's popular destinations have received a significant upgrade. Recognizing the critical need for swift emergency services, the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) has bolstered the operational mobility of the national Tourist Police by integrating a fresh fleet of vehicles into their central unit.
During an official handover ceremony on Thursday, the NTB provided 14 new motorcycles to the specialized security force. This initiative, funded through the board's annual budget, shifts the focus toward proactive crisis management and improved accessibility in areas that are traditionally difficult to navigate or heavily congested.
According to Surya Thapaliya, Senior Manager at the NTB, the core objective of this logistical support is to dramatically enhance the reaction time and reach of the officers on the ground. He emphasized that facilitating smoother mobility allows the force to execute various support activities more efficiently, reflecting a strong stakeholder commitment to the well-being of international visitors.
The Tourist Police have long served as a dedicated unit in Nepal, tasked with a broad spectrum of responsibilities ranging from basic information dissemination to complex rescue operations.
With these newly acquired resources, law enforcement's ability to maintain a secure environment in both remote trails and urban tourist centers is expected to become notably more agile, ensuring that visitor protection remains a proactive and heavily resourced pillar of the nation's tourism strategy.
