In a move to strengthen bilateral security logistics, the Government of India has handed over a fleet of ten prisoner carrier trucks to local authorities in Nepal's border hub of Birgunj.
The official transfer took place during a ceremonial gathering on Tuesday, where Indian Consul General Shri Devi Sahai Meena presented the keys of the specialized vehicles to Parsa's Chief District Officer, Shri Bhola Dahal.
This latest logistical contribution is part of New Delhi's ongoing assistance program designed to upgrade and optimize the operational capacities of Nepal's primary law enforcement agencies.
Receiving the heavy vehicles on behalf of the local administration, Chief District Officer Dahal expressed his gratitude toward the Indian government for the timely logistical provisions. He highlighted that such long-standing cross-border interventions are highly beneficial and critical to the shared developmental growth of both nations.
The delivery follows a massive logistical deployment earlier this year, when India dispatched approximately 640 utility vehicles, including trucks, pickups, and SUVs, to assist Nepal during its House of Representatives elections held on 5 March 2026.
Historically, this partnership has seen the delivery of more than 2,000 security vehicles from New Delhi to Nepal's frontline defense forces, notably the Nepal Police, the Armed Police Force, and the Nepali Army.
Indian diplomatic officials noted that this sustained vehicular backing is a direct reflection of the multi-layered developmental alliance shared between the neighboring states, showcasing deep-seated institutional trust and grassroots citizen friendship.
