Shram Sanskriti Party Chairman Harka Raj Rai, popularly known as Harka Sampang, has formally approached the Nepal Police Cyber Bureau following serious threats made against him online. On Monday, the political leader submitted a complaint against an individual identified as Sunita Khadka, alleging that she used digital platforms to issue death threats and warnings of arson directed at his residence.
According to the official complaint filed at the Bhotahiti-based bureau, the suspect reportedly utilized TikTok and Facebook to broadcast derogatory remarks and violent intimidations. Rai has characterized the behavior as a "barbaric" assault on his safety and reputation, urging authorities to initiate an immediate investigation. He further alleged in his statement that the individual involved is a supporter of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), questioning whether the government will hold its own political affiliates accountable under the law.
Superintendent of Police Dilip Giri, representing the Cyber Bureau, confirmed the receipt of the complaint and stated that the police have taken note of the evidence provided, including specific social media handles. As digital platforms increasingly become a space for high-stakes political friction, the outcome of this case remains a significant indicator of how law enforcement will navigate cybercrime involving public figures and political supporters.
