Kathmandu’s packaged food retail landscape has expanded with the launch of Current Mart’s second outlet, marking a strategic move by Yasoda Foods to strengthen its direct-to-consumer presence in the capital.

The new outlet began operations on Sunday, Magh 18 (February 1), at Katyayani Chowk, Baneshwor, following the strong commercial performance of the brand’s first mart in Bhairahawa. According to the company, sustained consumer demand outside the western region prompted the Kathmandu expansion.

The store was formally inaugurated through a joint ribbon-cutting ceremony by Yasoda Foods Director Madhusudan Ghimire and National Sales Manager Yugraj Pandey, who also briefed media representatives on the company’s retail strategy and product positioning.

Several area sales managers, including Soni Pudasaini, Bimala Khati, and Sapana Bhusal, attended the opening, alongside customers and well-wishers.

The Baneshwor-based Current Mart offers consumers access to Yasoda Foods’ entire product portfolio in one location. This includes Current-branded instant noodles, snack varieties, cheese balls, sticks, potato crackers, as well as tea products such as Current Gold Masala Tea and CTC tea. The outlet also stocks commonly used spices including cumin, coriander, and red chili powder.

Speaking at the event, Yasoda Foods Chairman Chunna Prasad Poudel said the trust shown by consumers in Bhairahawa encouraged the company to expand into Kathmandu, enabling easier access to fresh and quality products directly from the brand.

The launch complements the company’s existing “Current Point” outlets in Anamnagar and Shankhamul, which focus primarily on noodle offerings. The mart model, the company believes, will further improve convenience for customers seeking packaged food products.

Established in 2017, Yasoda Foods has emerged as a leading Nepali food and beverage manufacturer. Its Current brand products are distributed nationwide and exported to more than 22 countries, playing a growing role in promoting Nepali flavors internationally.
