The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) is actively working to cement Senior Leader Balendra Shah's position at the helm of its legislative wing, a move that directly aligns with the party's election campaign projecting him as the next Prime Minister. Internal consultations are currently underway to amend the party's governing statute, clearing the path for Shah to be officially named the parliamentary party leader.
According to RSP Spokesperson Manish Jha, who briefed the press following a secretariat meeting on Sunday, the formal transition requires a Central Committee convention to ratify the necessary constitutional changes. While the groundwork is being laid informally, the official bureaucratic steps are temporarily on hold.
The delay in executing the statute amendment is attributed to the medical unavailability of crucial party figures whose participation is mandatory for the procedural overhaul. Despite this pause, Jha emphasized that the party remains steadfast in its pre-election commitments regarding Shah's leadership role, urging supporters and political observers not to doubt their intentions.
As the RSP waits for its key members to recover, the impending Central Committee meeting will serve as a definitive test of the party's ability to smoothly execute its promised leadership transition and position Shah for the nation's top executive role.
