Strong Condemnation of Kashmir Attack, Warning of Danger in Nepal, Questions Raised Over Government Silence

The Rastriya Ektata Abhiyan (National Unity Campaign) has strongly condemned the recent heinous terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, India. Organizing a special press conference at Reporters' Club Nepal in the capital today (Friday), the campaign expressed severe condemnation of the incident and profound sorrow over the killing of innocent people, including a Nepali citizen. Furthermore, the campaign voiced concern over rising Islamic terrorism globally, drawing the attention of the Nepal government and demanding immediate steps to prevent the recurrence of such incidents in Nepal.
Presenting the campaign's official stance at the press conference held at the Reporters' Club, the incident was termed barbaric and inhumane. The campaign stated, "The terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, India, has left us Nepalis and the global Hindu community in deep sorrow. Such barbaric and inhumane incidents claiming the lives of innocent civilians inflict suffering upon the human community." Recalling that Nepal has always firmly stood for peace, co-existence, and human rights, the campaign expressed full solidarity with the government and people of India in this tragic hour.
Addressing the press conference, the campaign's Central President, Binay Yadav, described the nature of the incident as extremely terrifying. He made the serious and disturbing allegation that the terrorists stopped people, identified them by asking their religion, and then killed them. "This attack is not solely targeted against India; it appears to be aimed at the Hindu community worldwide," Yadav further clarified.
President Yadav expressed deep concern that the threat of Islamic terrorism is increasing globally and that Nepal is not immune to it. "Islamic terrorism is on the rise in the world. Nepal is not untouched by it," he stated. Expressing strong dissatisfaction with the Nepal government's response and role, Yadav added, "Even amidst such a serious incident, the Nepal government remains almost silent. The state's responsibility is not fulfilled merely by the Prime Minister talking to his Indian counterpart on the phone or sending a formal condolence message. Mere formality is not enough." He stressed that the government must immediately take concrete, strategic, and result-oriented initiatives to prevent such potential terrorist incidents within Nepal. Yadav remarked that the government's current inaction and response are inadequate.
According to available information, preliminary reports indicate that at least 26 innocent individuals, including one Nepali citizen, lost their lives in the terrorist attack in the Pahalgam area of Jammu and Kashmir, highlighting the brutality and horror of the incident.
Speaking at the event, campaign member Lakshmi Gyawali and another member, Dayaram Pandey, among other speakers, also strongly condemned the terrorist attack in Pahalgam. They offered heartfelt tributes to the deceased and expressed deep condolences to the bereaved families. They also emphasized the need for all parties to be vigilant and united to prevent the recurrence of such inhumane incidents anywhere in the world.
In conclusion, through the press conference, the Rastriya Ektata Abhiyan condemned the Kashmir incident, expressing deep concern and apprehension about rising terrorism. The campaign has strongly urged the Nepal government to move beyond mere formalities, take this sensitive issue seriously, and immediately implement effective security and policy measures to protect the country from potential threats.
