Construction of Tribhuvan Secondary School Building in Sunsari Begins with India's Support

Sunsari – The foundation stone for the construction of a new school building at Shree Tribhuvan Secondary School in Inaruwa Municipality, Sunsari District was laid today in a special ceremony. The event was attended by Hon’ble Member of Parliament Gyanendra Bahadur Karki, Deputy Chief of Mission of the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu, Shri Prasanna Shrivastava, and Mayor of Inaruwa Municipality, Kedar Bhandari. Several political representatives, government officials, social workers, teachers, students, and parents were also present on the occasion.

India’s Financial Assistance for School Infrastructure
The new school building is being constructed with financial assistance from the Government of India under the ‘Nepal-India Development Cooperation’ program. The project has been allocated a budget of NPR 24.83 million and is being implemented through Inaruwa Municipality. The construction will include a double-storied school building along with other allied facilities as part of a High Impact Community Development Project (HICDP).

A Historic Educational Institution
Established in 1958, Shree Tribhuvan Secondary School provides education from Nursery to Grade 12 and currently has around 750 students, with 55% of them being girls. The new infrastructure aims to create a better learning environment for students and enhance the overall quality of education in the region.

India’s Commitment to Nepal’s Development
Speaking at the event, Shri Prasanna Shrivastava, Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of India, Kathmandu, highlighted India’s continued commitment to Nepal’s development. Since 2003, the Government of India has undertaken 563 High Impact Community Development Projects (HICDPs) across Nepal, including 91 projects in Koshi Province.

Additionally, India has gifted 1009 ambulances and 300 school buses to various hospitals, health posts, and educational institutions in Nepal, with 146 ambulances and 48 school buses provided to Koshi Province alone. Shri Shrivastava expressed satisfaction over the growth, expansion, and diversification of India-Nepal development cooperation over the years. He reaffirmed India’s commitment to strengthening this partnership in alignment with Nepal’s development priorities.

Local Leaders Appreciate India’s Support
During the event, local representatives, including MP Gyanendra Bahadur Karki and Mayor Kedar Bhandari, expressed their appreciation for India’s continuous support in Nepal’s development. They emphasized that the new infrastructure would significantly improve the educational facilities for students at Shree Tribhuvan Secondary School and contribute to the overall development of the education sector in eastern Nepal.

India and Nepal share a long-standing partnership based on cultural, economic, and developmental cooperation. The implementation of High Impact Community Development Projects (HICDPs) reflects India’s ongoing commitment to supporting Nepal’s efforts in enhancing infrastructure, education, and social development.

The new school building at Shree Tribhuvan Secondary School is expected to provide students with a modern and improved learning environment, helping them achieve academic excellence and secure a brighter future.
