The Odisha government has taken significant steps to ensure the safety and well-being of students at Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT), Bhubaneswar, following an unfortunate incident that led to widespread concerns. The tragic death of a student and the subsequent response from the institution have prompted various authorities to take swift action to support affected students and their families.

Help Desk for Student Safety and Well-being

To address student concerns and ensure their academic security, the Higher Education Department of Odisha has established a 24/7 help desk. This initiative aims to assist students in returning to campus safely, protect their academic interests, and provide emotional support during this period.

State Government and Diplomatic Efforts

The Odisha government has been proactive in addressing student safety concerns. The Higher Education Department's decision to establish this help desk demonstrates its commitment to ensuring that students can resume their academic activities in a secure environment.

In addition to the state government’s efforts, the Embassy of India and the Government of Nepal have also been actively involved in ensuring that Nepali students receive the necessary support. Diplomatic channels have been engaged to provide clear communication and assistance, ensuring a smooth transition for students who wish to return to their studies.

Ensuring a Smooth Return to Normalcy

With the intervention of the state government, the Indian and Nepali authorities, and the university administration, efforts are being made to normalize the situation. Students are encouraged to reach out to the help desk for any issues they face regarding their academic pursuits or personal well-being.

The government's swift action in setting up the help desk highlights its commitment to student welfare and safety. This initiative ensures that students can resume their studies with confidence, knowing that support is readily available whenever needed.
