Honoring Mothers with Trees: Indian Embassy’s Heartwarming Environmental Campaign!

Kathmandu, August 15, 2024 - In a unique tribute to mothers, the Indian Embassy in Nepal has embraced the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on World Environment Day 2024. This inspiring initiative encourages individuals to plant trees in honor of their mothers, and it has quickly gained widespread support across borders.

The campaign’s significance was echoed by Nepal's Minister for Forests and Environment, Hon'ble Mr. Ain Bahadur Shahi Thakuri, who planted a Nili Gulmohar sapling at the Embassy premises. Reinforcing the campaign’s impact, Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri also planted another Nili Gulmohar sapling at the Embassy on August 11, 2024, demonstrating his personal commitment to the cause.

The movement has also seen enthusiastic participation from the Indian diaspora and India-Nepal Friendship associations, who have been planting saplings to champion environmental protection and sustainability.

In line with the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ initiative, the Indian Embassy in Nepal marked India’s 78th Independence Day by planting 78 saplings on its grounds. This event, attended by embassy officials, their families, and children, symbolizes the Embassy's ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability and global well-being.

The ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign continues to inspire action, highlighting the collective responsibility we share in safeguarding our environment.
