India Delivers First Consignment of Prefabricated Steel Bridges to Nepal for Reconstruction Efforts
In a significant boost to Nepal’s post-flood reconstruction efforts, the Government of India today handed over the first consignment of components for ten prefabricated steel bridges to the Government of Nepal. The bridges, requested by Nepal, will aid in restoring road connectivity disrupted by recent floods and landslides. Valued at over NPR 38 crores, these bridges are being provided as a grant by India.
Shri Devi Sahai Meena, Consul General of India in Birgunj, officially handed over the consignment to Parsa District's Chief District Officer, Mr. Dinesh Sagar Bhusal. The remaining bridge components are expected to be delivered in the coming days.
In addition to the bridge components, over the past two days, India has provided more than 25 tonnes of humanitarian aid to Nepal. This aid includes essential hygiene supplies, medicines, life jackets, sleeping mats, food items, inflatable rubber boats, motors, tarpaulins, sleeping bags, blankets, chlorine tablets, and bottled water. These supplies are meant to support families impacted by the recent floods and landslides across Nepal.
The Indian Government reaffirmed its commitment to continue offering all necessary assistance to the Government and people of Nepal in their relief and reconstruction efforts.
