Warning of an intensified agrarian blockade surrounding the national capital, Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) National Spokesperson Rakesh Tikait has called on opposition political parties to stage statewide demonstrations targeting alleged electoral malpractice. Speaking outside the Ghaziabad court premises on November 2, 2026, Tikait signaled that any prospective farmers' protest would involve a total blockade of the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway to isolate Delhi, pointing out that official negotiations regarding Minimum Support Price (MSP) have remained stalled since January 22, 2021.
The farmer leader made these observations while attending a hearing before Special Judge Nishant Maan in an MP/MLA court regarding a case dating back to 2014. According to Tikait's legal counsel, Chaudhary Ajay Veer Singh, the court rescheduled the next hearing to November 12, 2026, due to an ongoing lawyers' strike. Tikait was accompanied at the courthouse by BKU District President Chaudhary Bijendra Singh, Chaudhary Ram Kumar Singh Duhai, and Mahesh Yadav Bamheta.
Addressing broader economic and environmental concerns, Tikait urged the government to establish a minimum procurement price of ₹550 per quintal for sugarcane to offset escalating cultivation expenses. He also countered prevailing narratives on Delhi-NCR air pollution, asserting that agricultural stubble is traded directly from farms rather than burned. Instead, he attributed regional environmental degradation primarily to heavy industrial emissions and large-scale construction projects.
Tikait further remarked on political developments, noting that even if Rashtriya Lok Dal leader Jayant Chaudhary were assigned the agriculture ministry, farmers would continue to hold the administration accountable on unresolved agrarian grievances. Observing that youth and opposition coalitions are driving recent civic protests, BKU leadership reiterated its intent to maintain pressure on policy makers until long-standing agricultural demands are formally addressed.
