Highlighting the disproportionate climate burden borne by vulnerable nations, Nepal’s Prime Minister Balen Shah has departed for New York to lead the national delegation at the United Nations General Assembly.
The head of government is scheduled to address the global assembly on September 24 (Ashoj 8), focusing his address on the severe environmental hazards and massive losses Nepal repeatedly endures despite contributing negligibly to global carbon emissions.
During his high-level diplomatic visit, Prime Minister Shah will also hold a bilateral sideline meeting with UN Secretary-General António Guterres to discuss climate justice and international support.

Diplomatic groundwork for the address is already underway in New York, where an advance delegation led by Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal has already arrived.
Following his participation in the assembly and scheduled bilateral discussions, Prime Minister Shah will return to Nepal on September 26 (Ashoj 10).
