Prime Minister Balen Shah has publicly highlighted significant progress in reviving several state-owned enterprises that were previously facing severe financial losses and operational closures. Sharing updates via social media, Prime Minister Shah emphasized that honest intentions, adherence to law, and continuous teamwork under the new government's facilitation have begun opening new doors for public sector reform.
Among the key milestones, Nepal Aushadhi Limited reported sales worth NPR 23.8 million over the last four months after obtaining Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) certification. This operational improvement allowed the company to secure a net profit of NPR 30 million in the previous fiscal year.
In the textile sector, test production at the long-closed Hetauda Textile Industry has officially commenced following loom repairs. The task of managing test production was entrusted to the Nepali Army, with full government management planned to take over following successful testing phases.
Financial recovery was also recorded at Nepal Airlines Corporation, which generated revenue of NPR 6.2763 billion between Chaitra and Ashadh of the last fiscal year. This marks an increase of NPR 1.1021 billion compared to the same period in the preceding fiscal year, accompanied by a 6% rise in flight occupancy to reach 86%.
Furthermore, Dairy Development Corporation (DDC) reduced its farmer payment backlog cycle from eight months (NPR 720 million) down to two to three months (NPR 350 million). The corporation saved nearly NPR 30 million annually by eliminating ghee and milk allowances previously distributed to all staff, while advancing preparations to export ghee to the Gulf, butter and chhurpi to China, and resuming cheese production at its Nagarkot center.
Additionally, Singha Durbar Vaidhyakhana Development Committee produced and marketed Ayurvedic medicines valued at NPR 111.6 million following the government's formation. Total medicine transactions reached approximately NPR 130 million in the last fiscal year, reflecting a fourfold increase compared to the previous year.
These developments demonstrate that sustained dedication and honest leadership can restore viability to troubled national industries across the country.
