The Netherlands women’s cricket team have booked their maiden place at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup after a decisive, rain-interrupted victory over the United States women’s cricket team in Kathmandu.
The result came during the Super Six stage of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifier, where the Netherlands clinched qualification with a 21-run win via the DLS method at the Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground.
After winning the toss, the USA posted 129 for seven in 20 overs. Chasing 130, the Netherlands reached 90 for two in 12 overs before rain halted play, prompting the DLS calculation that confirmed their victory and World Cup berth.
The Netherlands’ progress to the Super Six followed a four-point finish in the group stage. Bangladesh women’s cricket team also secured qualification for the 2026 tournament by winning their opening Super Six match, having likewise advanced with four group points.
The 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup will be jointly hosted by England and Wales, with two additional teams still to qualify from the Global Qualifier.
