The Nepali entertainment fraternity is mourning the loss of celebrated comedian Khem Sharma, widely known by his stage name "Chature," who passed away on Sunday morning (Nepal time) in the United States. Sharma breathed his last at around 8:00 PM local American time at the Franklin Square Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland.
The news of his demise was confirmed by artist and model Manish Sharma, who visited the medical facility during the actor's treatment. According to him, the late comedian was initially admitted to Towson Hospital on Wednesday after experiencing sudden health complications, before being transferred to Franklin Square Hospital for specialized care.
Prominent actor Shivahari Poudyal, a long-time collaborator who shared the screen with Sharma across multiple television projects, also expressed profound grief over the loss. In a heartfelt social media post, Poudyal lamented the passing of an exceptional individual, noting that he has lost a deeply cherished lifelong friend.
Sharma had been residing in the United States with his family for a significant duration. Throughout his illustrious career, he made indelible contributions to Nepali cinema and television, most notably anchoring the hit comedy sitcom 'Chature Ko Daupech,' leaving behind a rich artistic legacy that will continue to inspire future generations of performers.
